Reports reaching The Herald, indicate that millions of dollars have been found in the accounts of Nana Ama Osei-Bonsu, alias “Queen Amadia”, the estranged wife of Goldridge Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Sledge, who was arrested at the Accra International Airport on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

It is reported that, “Queen Amadia”, who has been in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) since her arrest, is having difficulty accounting for the source of funds estimated at more than US$90 million.

As of last Friday, additional information available to The Herald, indicated that she remained in EOCO custody and had been unable to satisfy her bail conditions, including securing legal representation.

Interestingly, in September last year, when her husband, Dr Sledge, was detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), he also failed to meet his bail conditions.

This situation reportedly persisted until Dr Sledge, engaged the services of Joseph Kofi Osei-Owusu of Cardinal Law Chambers, described as a longtime friend and former Ghana School of Law classmate of the Special Prosecutor, William Kissi Agyebeng.

It remains unclear, what is driving the parallel investigations by EOCO and the OSP, while an appeal reportedly announced by the OSP in February, following its legal setback, is yet to be heard.

There are also reports that additional sums, running into the millions of dollars, have been identified in several bank accounts.

She was reportedly stopped at the airport while attempting to leave the country amid ongoing OSP investigations into her husband over transactions linked to the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF).

There are suspicions that the funds identified in her bank accounts could be linked to Goldridge Refinery Limited.

The marriage between Queen Amadia and Dr Sledge, reportedly his second marriage, is said to be on the rocks, with reports suggesting that she moved out of their matrimonial home several months ago.

According to a source within Ghana’s security services, “Queen Amadia” was picked up at the airport on 12 May 2026 and remains in custody.

The source indicated that she was intercepted while attempting to leave the country amid ongoing OSP investigations into transactions linked to MIIF involving Dr Sledge.

In September 2025, the OSP arrested Nana Yaw Duodu, CEO of Goldridge Refinery, in connection with one of its investigations following a series of publications by The Herald last year.

OSP reports indicated that “Dr Sledge” was arrested on suspicion of corruption and corruption-related offences linked to MIIF, particularly in relation to the management of its gold trade programme.

The reports further stated that the state allegedly lost more than US$94 million as a result of Goldridge’s alleged failure to honour its obligations in trade transactions under the Gold for Forex and Gold for Oil initiatives advanced to Goldridge Refinery by MIIF.

In its half-year report, the OSP listed investigations into MIIF among its high-profile cases.

The investigation covers payments linked to Agyapa Royalties, small-scale mining initiatives, lithium and gold projects, board expenditures, land acquisitions and related contracts between 2020 and 2024.

According to the OSP, the probe focuses on suspected corruption and corruption-related offences concerning MIIF’s operations during the period under review.

The investigations particularly involve payments made in connection with Agyapa Royalties Limited, the Small-Scale Mining Incubation Programme (SSMIP), the Quarry Value Addition Programme (QVAP), lithium asset investments, the Enchi Gold Project, other MIIF investments, funds expended on the Chairman of the Board of Directors, MIIF operational funds, land acquisition for a proposed office building, as well as contracts and agreements entered into by MIIF.

The investigation also targets some former and serving MIIF officials, as well as the following entities: Asante Gold Corporation, ElectroChem Ghana Limited, Goldridge Ghana Limited, GIG Minerals Limited, RCM Properties, Energy & Resources Company Limited, Goldstrom Ghana Limited and BH Minerals Limited.

In February this year, the OSP moved to correct what it described as misleading media reports suggesting that Dr Sledge of Goldridge Ghana Limited, had been cleared of corruption by a court.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, the OSP sought to clarify the status of its investigation into MIIF’s operations between 2020 and 2024.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the OSP has not filed any criminal charges in court against Dr Sledge, and no court has pronounced on his guilt or innocence,” the statement said.

The anti-corruption body emphasised that its investigation into the matter, which implicates Dr Sledge in transactions estimated at approximately US$94 million, remains ongoing.

The clarification followed media reports of a High Court decision regarding the businessman’s assets. The OSP confirmed that in 2025, it froze assets belonging to Dr Sledge, specifically vehicles valued at GH¢18 million. However, in January 2025, the High Court refused to confirm the freezing of those assets.

The OSP revealed that it has since taken legal steps to challenge the court’s refusal and has also acted to “re-secure and freeze the assets”.

According to the statement, the assets in question “remain frozen and are under the authority, protection and preservation of the OSP in the public interest”.

The Office added that it is continuing its tracing operations to identify and freeze any additional assets suspected to be tainted.

The OSP reiterated its commitment to pursuing the investigation to its conclusion.

“Upon the conclusion of the investigation, any person against whom sufficient evidence is established will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction,” the OSP assured the public
