Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has reportedly passed away after battling severe burns sustained in a fire outbreak at his residence.
The news of his passing was confirmed by fellow actor Ken Fiati, who shared the sad development in a Facebook post on the evening of February 20. “Rest In Perfect Peace, Senior Mawuli Semevo,” Fiati wrote, mourning his late colleague.
Semevo’s ordeal began on Friday, February 7, when his home caught fire while he was asleep. He was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, but the extent of his injuries proved critical. Reports indicate that the fire left 44 percent of his body severely burned, leading to respiratory complications that ultimately affected his breathing.
Despite efforts by medical professionals, the veteran actor succumbed to his injuries. His passing marks a significant loss to Ghana’s film and theater industry, where he was widely respected for his contributions.
