The Toase District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region has remanded two friends, Desmond Ayensu, 26, and Frank Osei Bonsu, 27, into police custody over allegations of conspiracy, causing damage, and stealing at Manso-Nweneso.

The accused persons had their pleas not taken and are expected to reappear before the court on July 7, 2026.
Police Chief Inspector Ntim Boadu, who is prosecuting the case, told the court presided over by Mr. Robert Addo that the complainant, Evander Frimpong, and the two suspects are all residents of Nweneso.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons are small-scale miners while the complainant is a businessman.
He explained that on a Sunday in November 2025, the complainant had gone to church when the two suspects allegedly conspired to break into his room by dismantling a window. They are said to have stolen GHS 60,000 in cash.
Chief Inspector Boadu further told the court that Desmond Ayensu fled the area after the incident but was later arrested by the Foase Police upon his return for an unrelated offence.
He added that in his caution statement, Ayensu admitted to the offence and mentioned Frank Osei Bonsu as his accomplice.
Following police investigations, both suspects were formally charged and brought before the court, where they were remanded into custody pending further hearing.
