Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has defended comments made by Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin against the judge presiding over the Abronye case at Circuit Court 9.
The Effutu MP has come under criticism for remarks suggesting he would continue to disregard the judge over what he described as the judge’s misapplication of the law.
The comments follow the remand of the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, over alleged offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and the publication of false statements against a judge.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a workshop for Minority MPs, Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the Minority Leader’s comments reflect the position of the entire caucus, adding that anyone who deems it necessary to challenge them is free to do so.
“He didn’t speak as an individual. What Honourable Afenyo-Markin said is a reflection of the caucus position. It is a position that was well thought through, and if anybody wants to take us on contempt, they are at liberty to do so.”
Meanwhile, opening the workshop, Frank Annoh-Dompreh urged members to intensify pressure on the government, arguing that the administration has become unpopular earlier than anticipated.
