Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has conveyed a strong message of support, encouragement, and national pride to the Black Stars on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Government, and the people of Ghana ahead of their opening FIFA World Cup match against Panama.
Leading a high-powered delegation, the Vice President met with the national team as they finalized preparations for the tournament. She assured the players and technical team that the entire nation stands firmly behind them as they prepare to represent Ghana on football’s biggest stage.
According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the visit was aimed at inspiring and motivating the team ahead of their World Cup campaign.
“I led a delegation to meet the Black Stars ahead of their opening match against Panama to express our support and encouragement,” she stated.
The delegation included representatives of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, led by Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, officials from Ghana’s High Commission headed by High Commissioner Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, and the leadership of the Ghana Football Association led by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with players and coaching staff, offering words of encouragement and expressing confidence in the team’s ability to make the nation proud.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that Ghanaians from all walks of life are united in their support for the Black Stars.
“Ghanaians from every region, community, and household are rallying behind the Black Stars, confident that they will represent our country with determination, discipline, and excellence,” she noted.
On behalf of President Mahama, the Government, and the people of Ghana, the Vice President wished the team and technical staff success throughout the tournament.
The Black Stars will be aiming to begin their FIFA World Cup journey on a winning note when they face Panama in their opening fixture, carrying with them the hopes and aspirations of millions of Ghanaians around the world.
