Ghana’s fashion industry has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden passing of renowned couturier, Sadia Sanusi.
According to close sources, the celebrated designer passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026. Although the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, reports indicate that she died in her sleep, sending shockwaves across the creative community.
Sadia Sanusi was widely regarded as one of the most innovative voices in Ghanaian fashion. Known for her ability to blend traditional textile heritage with contemporary global aesthetics, she built a strong reputation as a pioneering designer whose work resonated both locally and internationally.
Her passing comes at a particularly poignant moment, as she was preparing to celebrate a major milestone—her 10th anniversary in the fashion industry. As part of the planned celebrations, she had scheduled a masterclass for emerging designers next week, aimed at sharing her knowledge and inspiring the next generation.
Beyond her achievements in fashion, Sadia first gained national recognition as the 2nd Runner-Up in the 2012 edition of Miss Malaika Ghana, where she also won the Miss Talent crown for her outstanding performance. She was an alumna of Accra Girls’ Senior High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Design from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she honed her artistic vision.
