A former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP) Faustina Agyeiwaa Kodua Andoh-Kwofie, has initiated legal action against a national security operative, several media outlets, and their editors over what she describes as defamatory publications.

The suit names Mr. Charles Amegadzie, identified as a national security operative, along with Mr. Prosper Kay, Mr. Roger A. Agana, NewsGhana.com.gh, Supreme Newspaper, Cloudview Technology Limited, and Opera Norway AS (operators of Opera News) as defendants.
According to the statement of claim, Mr. Amegadzie is alleged to have facilitated the publication of a story concerning a disputed parcel of land, which portrayed COP Andoh-Kwofie as having abused her position within the police service to engage in land-grabbing. She strongly denies the allegation, describing it as entirely false and damaging to her reputation.
COP Andoh-Kwofie is therefore seeking a declaration from the High Court that the publication is defamatory. She is also requesting that the defendants retract the story, remove it completely from all platforms, and issue an unqualified apology.
In addition, she is claiming GH¢10 million in general damages for defamation, as well as aggravated and exemplary damages, arguing that the publication was carried out in a reckless and malicious manner.
The former CID Director is further asking the court to impose a perpetual injunction to prevent the defendants, their agents, or assigns from publishing similar content in the future.
She maintains that the land matter referenced in the publication is currently before a court of competent jurisdiction, and insists that portraying her as a corrupt officer who used her office for personal gain is not only misleading but defamatory.
