At a time when conversations about women’s leadership and political participation continue to gain momentum in Ghana, Abigail Elom Akwambea Mensah, Deputy Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), delivered a message of empowerment and purpose at a women-focused leadership gathering held at Ho Technical University.
The event, organized by the Tertiary Education Institutions Network – Ho Technical University (TEIN-HTU), took place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the university’s SRC JCR. Centered on the theme “Becoming Her,” the program also marked the official launch of The Ladies Hub, an initiative designed to cultivate leadership, mentorship, and personal development among female students.
Serving as Guest of Honor, Akwambeah used the platform to challenge young women to step boldly into leadership spaces while remaining grounded in service, integrity, and discipline—values she said must define the next generation of female leaders.
“Leadership is not merely about occupying positions,” she told participants. “It is about responsibility, competence, and the willingness to uplift others along the way.”
A Leadership Voice Within the NDC
Within the ranks of the NDC, Elorm has emerged as a respected organizer and advocate for women’s participation in political life.
Her role as Deputy Women’s Organizer places her at the center of the party’s grassroots mobilization and women’s empowerment efforts, responsibilities she has approached with what colleagues often describe as diligence and strategic clarity.
Her presence at the Ho Technical University event underscored the party’s continuing investment in nurturing female leadership at the tertiary level.
TEIN, the NDC’s student wing, has historically served as a training ground for many of the party’s future leaders.

She commended TEIN-HTU for what she described as a forward-looking effort to empower female students beyond traditional academic pursuits.
“Platforms like this ensure that women are not only participants in national development but architects of it,” she noted.

Throughout her remarks, Elorm emphasized that empowering women within political structures remains essential to strengthening democratic participation. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing opportunities for women within the NDC, particularly at the grassroots level where political engagement often begins.
