Minister Kofi Iddie Adams Praises Team’s Exceptional Performance in Abuja
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Ghana’s national armwrestling team, the Golden Arms, for their stellar performance at the 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship held in Abuja, Nigeria.
Team Ghana dominated the continental tournament, finishing with an impressive total of 53 medals — 24 gold, 20 silver, and 9 bronze — reaffirming the country’s position as a continental powerhouse in armwrestling.
In an official statement issued on July 27, 2025, the Minister commended the team for showcasing Ghana’s competitive edge and resilience. “This success is not an isolated achievement. It reflects the Ghana Armwrestling Federation’s sustained grassroots investment, disciplined athlete development pathway, and purposeful partnerships across the public and private sectors,” he stated.
Hon. Adams also acknowledged the crucial role played by corporate sponsors and public-sector stakeholders in providing timely support in areas such as insurance, health services, travel logistics, and athlete preparation.
He assured the Federation and its athletes of the government’s continued support as they gear up for the 2027 African Games and other international competitions. “Your collaboration illustrates the mutual benefits that flow from strategic engagement with sport,” he emphasized.
Calling the team’s journey “inspiring,” the Minister urged Ghanaians to celebrate the Golden Arms’ achievement and channel the same energy and unity into future sporting successes. “Let us celebrate this success and channel the same collective energy into the next phase of Ghana’s sporting journey,” he added.
The 2025 Africa Armwrestling Championship has once again highlighted Ghana’s growing prominence in the global armwrestling community, with the Golden Arms serving as a symbol of national pride and sporting excellence.
