The National Youth Authority (NYA) has officially launched the 2025 edition of the National Youth Festival, placing young people at the center of Ghana’s development agenda with a clarion call for skills development, civic responsibility, and national service.
Under the theme “Igniting Potential; Inspiring Change,” the month-long festival aims to energize and equip young Ghanaians to contribute meaningfully to national progress. The event was unveiled by the Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, Osman Ayariga, who emphasized the urgency of translating frameworks into real, impactful action for the youth.
“This festival is more than just a celebration—it is a movement,” Mr. Osman Ayariga declared. “A movement that will inspire lasting change in the lives of our young people and, by extension, our beloved nation.”
With youth representing 38.2% of Ghana’s population, the CEO highlighted that the country’s demographic dividend presents a unique opportunity for growth, but only if strategic investments are made. “Frameworks alone do not create change; action does,” he stated passionately.
Mr. Osman Ayariga outlined five core objectives of the 2025 Youth Festival:
1. Delivering comprehensive skills training and entrepreneurship opportunities
2. Reinforcing national values and promoting positive youth behavior
3. Enhancing youth participation in governance
4. Addressing critical challenges such as mental health and substance abuse
5. Showcasing the contributions of young people to national development
Throughout the month of August, the festival will be observed in all 16 regions of the country.
Activities will include youth dialogues with religious leaders, community outreach programs, a special presidential engagement on International Youth Day, climate action summits, stakeholder forums, and a vibrant national youth carnival.
“This is your month,” Mr. Ayariga said in a direct message to Ghana’s youth. “A time to showcase your talents, share your ideas, learn new skills, and connect with opportunities that can transform your life.”
He also extended an appeal to key stakeholders—including government agencies, civil society groups, the private sector, and the media—to lend their support to the nationwide effort.
“The National Youth Festival 2025 is more than a celebration,” he concluded. “It is an investment in Ghana’s future. When we ignite the potential of our youth, we inspire change that ripples through communities.”
