Renowned TV technical producer and musician, George Asenso Acheaw, spearheaded this year’s highly anticipated training program for television producers and crew members, an event aimed at enhancing the technical skills of industry professionals and paving the way for the next generation of talent.
The annual event, sponsored by MNT and other organizations, took place over the weekend and attracted a diverse group of participants eager to deepen their knowledge in television production.
The training, which is part of an ongoing effort to involve more young people in the TV production industry, provided participants with hands-on experience in camera work, editing, and studio management.
Speaking to the attendees, George Asenso Acheaw emphasized the importance of technical precision and creative innovation in television production. “Television production is not just about getting things right; it’s about telling stories in ways that captivate and engage viewers. It requires a perfect balance of creativity and technical expertise,” he remarked during his opening address.
Acheaw, who has over five years of experience in the field, shared insights from his career journey, which began at Homebase TV in Accra before he relocated to Takoradi to work with New Day TV. His wealth of knowledge and experience resonated with participants, particularly when he discussed the challenges he has faced along the way. “In this industry, you’ll face tight deadlines, equipment failures, and technical glitches that test your resolve. But these challenges make you stronger, more adaptable, and ultimately better at what you do,” he noted.
Beyond the technical aspects of TV production, the training also aimed to inspire aspiring producers and crew members to pursue their passion for the craft. “We want to create opportunities for the next generation to enter the business, to explore their creativity and turn their ideas into reality. This training is about building a foundation for the future of TV production in Ghana,” Acheaw explained.
Throughout the event, participants were given the chance to work with industry-standard equipment and receive one-on-one guidance from Acheaw, who is also a multi-talented musician. Known by his stage name, Khing Asenso, he encouraged the trainees to explore various facets of the entertainment industry, citing his own success in both television and music. “Whether you’re behind the camera or in front of the microphone, the key is to stay passionate and persistent,” he said.
Acheaw’s contributions to the industry have been widely recognized, earning him awards from the Film Crew Association and the Radio and TV Awards. As a technical producer, he has become a key player in the TV production landscape, and his commitment to mentoring up-and-coming talent is helping shape the future of the industry.
