Ghana’s online passport application platform has been temporarily taken offline following technical challenges, leaving some applicants unable to access the service.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, said users may currently be unable to access the official passport application website, passport.mfa.gov.gh.
According to the Ministry, efforts are underway to restore the platform, with its technical team working alongside the National Signals Bureau to resolve the problem.
The Ministry, however, did not provide details on what caused the technical disruption or indicate when the online service is expected to become fully operational.
The temporary shutdown could affect members of the public who are seeking to begin or complete passport-related applications through the online platform.
The development comes as government continues to expand the use of digital platforms for the delivery of public services, increasing the need for such systems to remain accessible and reliable.
The Ministry has apologised to affected applicants for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured the public that further information will be provided once the platform has been restored.
Applicants who are currently unable to access the portal have been advised to wait for an official update from the Ministry rather than making repeated attempts to use the system while the technical issues are being addressed.
The Ministry said it remains committed to resolving the situation and restoring normal access to the passport application service as soon as possible.
