The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Margaret Ansei, has taken a significant step toward expanding the global footprint of Ghanaian products through high-level engagements in the United States.

In a post shared on Facebook, Margaret Ansei revealed that she led a team to hold discussions with executives of Jungle Jim’s International Market in Cincinnati. The talks focused on promoting selected products from the GEA’s Yenze Ghana Mall initiative, with the aim of securing shelf space in international retail outlets.
According to Ansei, the engagement provided a platform for her team to showcase the “quality, uniqueness, and potential” of Ghanaian-made goods while actively lobbying for their inclusion in global markets. She emphasized that gaining visibility in established international retail spaces is key to unlocking new opportunities for Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
The visit was facilitated by Manny Addo, CEO of the African American Business & Promotion. Ansei noted that the interaction offered valuable insights into the requirements for entering and sustaining presence in highly competitive retail environments.
She highlighted that factors such as strong branding, premium packaging, adherence to strict quality standards, and the ability to maintain consistent supply are critical for success. These elements, she stressed, are essential for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) seeking to compete internationally.
“Above all, it reinforced the need for our MSMEs to be genuinely market ready,” Margaret Ansei stated.
She further underscored the importance of such international engagements in bridging the gap between local businesses and global opportunities. With the right support systems in place, she believes Ghanaian enterprises can scale up, compete effectively, and secure a place on shelves worldwide.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the GEA to promote entrepreneurship and enhance global market access for Ghanaian products under its ongoing development agenda.
