Two people have been confirmed dead after a helicopter crash-landed at the TMA Daycare premises at Site 18 in Tema Community One on Monday afternoon, March 16, 2026.
The helicopter, with registration number G9-ADV, reportedly crashed around 2:59 p.m., prompting an immediate emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
According to the GNFS, firefighters from the Tema Metro Fire Station arrived at the scene within three minutes after receiving the distress call.
Officials say the aircraft was badly damaged upon impact, leaving parts of the helicopter mangled and trapping the occupants inside. Firefighters had to carry out extrication operations to retrieve the victims from the wreckage.
Authorities confirmed that the two people on board the helicopter, both adult males, died in the crash. Their bodies have been retrieved and handed over to the police for further investigation.
Regional commanders from both the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service are currently at the scene coordinating emergency response efforts and ensuring safety at the crash site.
Investigations are expected to determine the cause of the crash as officials continue to examine the wreckage and assess the situation.
