The National Youth Authority (NYA) in the North East Region has held a sensitisation walk in Nalerigu as part of its ongoing ‘Red Means Stop’ campaign, an initiative designed to raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug abuse among young people.
The event drew youth groups, community leaders, and stakeholders, all united under the theme of protecting the future of the region from the rising threat of substance abuse.
Speaking after the walk, the Regional Director of the NYA, Mr. Kampi Laari Robert, praised the commitment of the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Osman Ayariga, Esq., whose leadership he described as both passionate and transformative in the fight against drug abuse.
Mr. Robert noted that the campaign represented more than just awareness-raising—it was, in his words, “a symbol of hope, a declaration to safeguard the youth and a commitment to securing a brighter future for the North East Region.”
He further emphasised the collective responsibility of society in shaping a drug-free generation, adding: “Together, we will continue to fight drug abuse, nurture talent, and build a generation that chooses dreams over drugs and life over destruction.”
The Regional Director concluded by expressing gratitude to all participants, community groups, and partners who supported the walk, encouraging them to continue spreading the message of resilience, discipline, and hope.
The ‘Red Means Stop’ campaign forms part of the NYA’s broader strategy to curb substance abuse, promote positive youth development, and safeguard the future of Ghana’s younger generation.
