The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has called on political parties to honor the results of the December 2024 general elections.
Addressing stakeholders at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa assured Ghanaians of the Commission’s dedication to conducting free, fair, and transparent polls.
Jean Mensa emphasized the need for a peaceful environment, stressing that the EC has taken significant steps to ensure credibility and stability throughout the electoral process. She noted that these measures are designed to build public trust and safeguard the integrity of the elections.
“As a Commission, we have consistently acted in ways that promote peace, knowing that the credibility of electoral outcomes depends largely on our actions. From the onset, we have been intentional about conducting a process that fosters peace before, during, and after the elections,” she said.
The EC Chairperson also called on political parties, civil society organizations, and citizens to contribute to a harmonious electoral process, urging all stakeholders to work together to maintain national unity and stability.
She expressed confidence in the EC’s capacity to deliver a violence-free election, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and accountability.
Jean Mensa concluded by encouraging political actors to respect the electoral outcomes, stressing that such cooperation is essential to preserving Ghana’s democracy and peace.
