Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has strongly criticized the previous NPP government for maintaining an overly bloated administration, particularly within the Office of the President, which he claims had hundreds of political appointees.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, this excessive expansion led to unnecessary government expenditure. He assured that President John Dramani Mahama’s administration would not repeat this mistake.
He emphasized that Mahama’s government would take a more prudent approach to appointments, significantly reducing the number of staffers and aides compared to the NPP’s tenure.
Kwakye Ofosu also dismissed allegations that Mahama had secretly appointed additional ministers, reaffirming that the total number of ministers remains at 56.
Highlighting the economic benefits of a leaner government, he pointed out that fewer ministers would lead to lower government spending, including a reduced need for expensive vehicles like Land Cruisers.
He reassured Ghanaians that Mahama’s administration would prioritize effective development over unnecessary expenditures, reinforcing its commitment to fiscal responsibility.
