The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested two security personnel of Bolgatanga Girls’ Senior High School over the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old student.

The suspects have been identified as 38-year-old Elvis Adongo and 72-year-old Adams Nyaaba Iddrisu.
According to the Upper East Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred after the student went to the school’s security room to charge her tablet.
The police said Adams Nyaaba Iddrisu allegedly forced the student and had sexual intercourse with her.
Investigations, according to the police, later established that the second security man, Elvis Adongo, was also allegedly involved in the sexual activity with the student.
The Police Command said Adongo admitted to having a sexual relationship with the victim when he was questioned by school authorities.
Following the allegations, the matter was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of both suspects.
The police have since prepared a medical form to facilitate the medical examination of the student and assist investigators in establishing the facts surrounding the alleged incident.
Elvis Adongo and Adams Nyaaba Iddrisu are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
The Upper East Regional Police Command said the two suspects are expected to be put before court after the completion of the necessary investigations.
The case has raised concerns about the safety and protection of students within school environments, particularly the need for institutions to ensure that personnel entrusted with students’ welfare maintain the highest standards of conduct.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
