President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted executive approval for the upgrade of selected districts to municipalities and municipalities to metropolises.
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development (MLGRD), in a statement issued on Wednesday, December 4, stated that the upgrades followed its request in accordance with the relevant legal provisions outlined in Act 936.The municipalities which have been upgraded to metropolises include the Ho Municipal Assembly, Sunyani Municipal Assembly, New Juaben Municipal Assembly, and the Wa Municipal Assembly.
The districts which have been upgraded to municipalities are Offinso North District Assembly, Brim North District Assembly, and the Karaga District Assembly.
