Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central (NDC), has paid four (4) months’ salary in advance, from October 2024 to January 2025, to 20 community teachers across five communities in the Amenfi Central Constituency.
The following schools and communities benefited from this initiative:
- Bredi D/A Basic School in the Agona Camp electoral area, costing her 2,700 GHS per month for 206 pupils.
- Dwete D/A Basic School in the Sumpre electoral area, costing her 2,400 GHS per month for three community teachers, serving 146 pupils.
- Anomatewa D/A Primary School in the Kyeikrom electoral area, costing her 2,140 GHS per month for 107 pupils.
- Atonsu Community School in the Manso Amenfi electoral area, costing her 5,000 GHS per month for five community teachers, serving 157 pupils.
- House of Joy Preparatory School (Manukrom) in the Kwamang electoral area, costing her 3,000 GHS per month for six community teachers, serving 147 students.
In total, the monthly cost of paying these teachers is 15,240 GHS.
The four (4) months’ salary advance, from October 2024 to January 2025, cost her 60,960 GHS.
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe has committed to paying the salaries of 20 community teachers for the above schools and communities every year, amounting to 182,880 GHS annually.
She has already paid four months’ salaries, totaling 60,960 GHS, in advance for the schools and communities listed above. The remaining salaries will be paid quarterly, starting from February 2025.
Her vision for this initiative is to promote teaching and learning in rural communities, where there is a shortage of teachers, and to alleviate the financial burden on parents in the Amenfi Central Constituency.
