Builsa South Member of Parliament James Agalga has been appointed the new Majority Leader of Parliament by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The appointment was communicated to Speaker Alban Bagbin in a letter dated August 24, 2026, signed by NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
According to the letter, the appointment followed consultations between the NDC leadership and the Presidency and takes effect immediately.
The party said the move is intended to provide the necessary leadership and coordination for the NDC Majority Caucus as it continues to discharge its constitutional and parliamentary responsibilities.
“The NDC Leadership is confident that, with the cooperation of the Rt. Hon. Speaker and all Members of Parliament, Hon. James Agalga will provide the leadership necessary to advance the work of Parliament in the supreme interest of the Republic.”
The letter was formally addressed to the Speaker of Parliament and signed by Mr Kwetey on behalf of the NDC leadership.
