Ghanaian businessman and gold dealer Peter Nana Kwadwo Ofosu Ayeh has been placed under movement restrictions after appearing before the Accra Circuit Court in connection with an alleged $160,000 gold fraud case.

The court granted Ofosu Ayeh bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, all of whom are required to be residents of Accra.
As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered him to deposit his passport and National ID card with the court registry.
The order effectively prevents him from travelling outside the jurisdiction while proceedings in the case continue.
Ofosu Ayeh is facing allegations linked to a gold transaction involving one kilogramme of gold. The specific circumstances surrounding the alleged $160,000 fraud have not been fully disclosed in the available court proceedings.
Following his appearance, the businessman was seen leaving the Accra Circuit Court premises under the escort of two police officers before entering a vehicle.
Footage of the incident has circulated on social media, drawing attention to the ongoing legal proceedings involving the gold dealer.
The case comes against the backdrop of persistent concerns over disputes and alleged fraudulent transactions within Ghana’s gold trading industry, where high-value transactions are common.
However, the allegations against Ofosu Ayeh have not been proven in court, and he remains entitled to the presumption of innocence until the case is determined.
The court has adjourned the matter to November 2, 2026, for further proceedings.
