The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted robbery at a branch of GCB Bank at Labone in Accra.

The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when police officers intervened to stop the suspected robbery at the bank.
According to the Police, two of the suspects were shot dead during the operation, while another suspect was arrested.
In a brief statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the incident, stating: “Two suspects have been gunned down and one has been arrested.”
The Police have not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects or provided further details on how the attempted robbery unfolded.
The Service said further information on the incident, including the identities of the suspects and the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery, will be communicated in due course.
The incident has since drawn attention to security at financial institutions in the Labone area as investigations continue.
