Two men, Mawuli Wordy and William Quaye, have been remanded into lawful custody by the Adabraka District Court for their alleged involvement in the murder of an unidentified man at Tesano in Accra.
The accused, a machine operator and an engineer respectively, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder. The court did not take their pleas and ordered that they remain in custody until their next appearance on June 30, 2026.
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, the case came to light following a report from the Police Emergency Command Centre on April 10, 2026, at about 0800 hours. The report indicated that a lifeless body had been discovered by the roadside in front of the former Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly office at Tesano.
A police team dispatched to the scene found the body of an adult male with severe wounds to the head and the back of the skull. The body was subsequently conveyed to the Police Hospital mortuary, where it remains pending identification and autopsy.
Prosecutors told the court that investigations were aided by CCTV footage obtained from the Police Emergency Command Centre. The footage allegedly showed the deceased and another individual scaling the gate of the accused persons’ residence and entering the premises at about 0200 hours on the same day.
The video is said to have captured the accused apprehending the deceased, while the other individual managed to escape. The prosecution further alleged that the accused subjected the man to severe beatings and later invited neighbours, who joined in assaulting him.
The victim was allegedly lynched, after which his body was abandoned in front of the former Municipal Assembly office, directly opposite the accused persons’ residence.
Mawuli Wordy and William Quaye were arrested on June 10, 2026. Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
