Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy has asserted that his 2024 hit single Jejereje significantly contributed to the electoral success of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the December polls.

The award-winning artiste made the remarks while speaking at the launch of Ghana’s fundraising campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to him, his contribution to the political landscape extended beyond entertainment, emphasizing the impact of his music during a crucial period in the country’s electoral cycle.
“When we talk about contributions, I believe that my contribution has been very significant in winning power for the NDC; I so say because everybody has heard,” he stated, before singing a portion of the song’s chorus.
Stonebwoy revealed that the production of Jejereje came at a considerable cost, noting that approximately $20,000 was invested into the project. He explained that the song was strategically released at a time when political tensions were high, with the intention of easing the atmosphere.
“I did it mainly because I am somebody who really believes in ‘reset,’” he said, referencing the NDC’s campaign agenda. “So, in my own judgment, I made sure that the music was dropped within a moment where there was some ease in the system because it was so tense, and I dropped it in terms of contributions.”
The artiste further disclosed that the song was produced within a tight timeframe, highlighting the efficiency of his team.
“The song in the background was well put together in under 24 hours by me and an able team of producers and cost the tune of at least $20,000,” he added.
Stonebwoy’s comments have since sparked conversations about the influence of music and popular culture on political engagement and voter sentiment in Ghana’s democratic process.
