Heath Goldfields Ltd. has won a decisive legal battle at the Supreme Court of Ghana, which on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, unanimously dismissed an application filed by Future Global Resources Ltd. (FGR) and Blue Gold Bogoso Ltd. as unmeritorious. The ruling affirms the legality of Heath Goldfields’ acquisition of the Bogoso-Prestea Mine.
The Supreme Court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Amadu Tanko JSC, expressed disappointment at the applicants’ persistence in seeking to overturn a High Court decision, questioning why Heath Goldfields Ltd. and the Minerals Commission were drawn into the matter. This marks the sixth consecutive legal defeat for FGR and Blue Gold since September 2024, when the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources lawfully terminated their mining rights and approved the transfer to Heath Goldfields Ltd.
Earlier in the year, the Supreme Court struck out the applicants’ initial application for want of prosecution. A subsequent request to relist the case also failed to convince the Court. The original application, filed in December 2024, sought to quash the Minister’s decision and secure an injunction preventing Heath Goldfields from taking control of the mine. However, on March 20, 2025, Her Ladyship Justice Yaa Onyameye Gyakobo JA dismissed the case as incompetent and improperly grounded.
The Supreme Court’s latest ruling reinforces Heath Goldfields’ legal position and underscores the Ghanaian government’s commitment to transparent, fair, and accountable management of the country’s mineral resources.
