Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was arrested at the International Airport on Monday while attempting to leave Ghana, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Sources claim Aboagye’s attempted departure came after he became aware that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) was preparing to invite him for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation.
The arrest is reportedly linked to EOCO’s probe into allegations that Aboagye misappropriated millions of cedis during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC). Investigators are said to be examining the management of public funds and procurement activities undertaken during his time at the agency.
Security officials intercepted Aboagye at the airport before he could board his flight and subsequently handed him over to EOCO investigators for further questioning.
Although EOCO has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest, sources indicate that the investigation forms part of broader efforts to probe alleged financial irregularities involving former public officials.
The allegations against Aboagye have not been proven in court, and he has not publicly responded to the claims at the time of publication. EOCO is expected to provide further details as investigations continue.
