The Fourth Estate, right from the beginning, had been calling for the abrogation of the NLA-KGL deal. At the Fourth Estate, the deal was a terrible one. However, this description has never been backed with any reasonable conclusion or substantial evidence by the Fourth Estate. Its surrogates have also never been able to back their claim.
But in the spirit of transparency and accountability, the President of the Republic of Ghana demanded that a Committee be set up to clear all doubts. The Committee set up by the President rather called for the stay of the contract and the subsequent renegotiation of the financials to benefit the Republic, not only the NLA.
The Fourth Estate notable for its lack of integrity and professionalism has gone to town again, peddling barefaced lies to the effect that the Committee’s conclusion matches theirs. But it must be unequivocally stated that it is absolutely FALSE for anyone at the Fourth Estate to claim that the Committee’s conclusion was consistent with the revelations made by the Fourth Estate in its series of publications against KGL.
The Fourth Estate maliciously and mischievously labelled the KGL-NLA deal as terrible and called for the abrogation of the deal. It never called for renegotiation. Why the backtracking? Why not be truthful? We expected that, if not for cheap sentimentalism and parochialism, the Fourth Estate would have rather rendered an unqualified apology to KGL.
Again, if the Fourth Estate were that consequential, it would have been considered as part of the ongoing renegotiation.
No one at the Fourth Estate or among its surrogates can pressure the Committee, which has the mandate, to rush and interfere with its professional work on the renegotiation of the NLA-KGL deal.
All the parties to the renegotiation of the NLA-KGL deal are fully committed to the ongoing legal and commercial exercise. All parties sincerely appreciate the urgency of this important renegotiation, but this is strictly a legal and commercial agreement that must adhere to the legal rights of each party in the renegotiation.
Renegotiations are NOT done on social media or at the headquarters of the Fourth Estate. This is an important national exercise, devoid of sensationalism, propaganda, and the twisting of narratives.
