President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day working visit to the Savannah Region, focusing on monitoring development efforts and connecting directly with residents on key government programmes.

The tour starts in Sawla and is part of the administration’s broader “Resetting Ghana” agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure expansion, improved education, and long-term economic growth.
A major highlight of the visit will be the introduction of the National BSTEM programme in basic schools, an initiative designed to boost interest and performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among young learners nationwide.
During his stay, the President is also expected to assess progress on critical road projects under the government’s Big Push Programme. These include the Sawla–Wa Highway and the Bole–Tinga road, both seen as vital links for improving transportation and trade in the region.
In Bole, President Mahama will break ground for a proposed 24-hour Economy Model Market and oversee additional development works at the Bole College of Education. He is also scheduled to inaugurate the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo and commission several school infrastructure projects across the region.
The itinerary further includes courtesy visits to traditional leaders, among them the Yagbonwura, underscoring the importance of collaboration between government and local authorities.
On Saturday, the President, alongside sector ministers, will engage residents at Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School. The forum is expected to give community members a platform to share concerns, ask questions, and learn more about ongoing policies and achievements.
The tour will wrap up with an inspection of the proposed Savannah Regional Hospital, a project aimed at improving healthcare access in the area.
