The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set an ambitious target to secure an equal share of votes with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region in upcoming elections.

Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, made this known during a ‘thank you’ tour of the region, addressing party supporters at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua constituency. He stressed his commitment to achieving this goal before retiring from active party politics.
According to him, the long-held perception of the Ashanti Region as an exclusive stronghold of the NPP is gradually shifting. He attributed this change to increasing voter awareness, with citizens now prioritizing infrastructural development and improved living conditions over party loyalty.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah emphasized that the key to electoral success lies in effective grassroots strategies. He highlighted the importance of completing inherited projects, initiating new development efforts in collaboration with traditional authorities, and creating economic opportunities for residents.
He noted that voters are becoming more discerning, basing their decisions on tangible development outcomes and the fulfillment of campaign promises.
The NDC Chairman expressed confidence that with sustained development and strategic engagement, the party could achieve an equal vote share with the NPP in the region in future elections.
