President John Dramani Mahama today began his one-day official visit to Paris with a high-level meeting with the President of the French Senate, Gerard Larcher.

Upon arrival, President Mahama was accorded a ceremonial military welcome before proceeding to bilateral discussions with his French counterpart. The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between Ghana and France, with key issues including trade and investment, regional security, and the ongoing fight against terrorism.
The meeting also highlighted France’s continued support for Ghana in critical sectors such as maternal health and agriculture. Both sides further acknowledged what was described as the significant improvement in Ghana’s economy under President Mahama’s leadership.
President Mahama was accompanied by a high-powered delegation comprising Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), National Security Advisor Prosper Bani, Secretary to the President Dr Callistus Mahama, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Mogtari, and Ghana’s Ambassador to France, Mavis Frimpong.
Later in the day, President Mahama and his delegation are expected to hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, where discussions are anticipated to deepen bilateral ties and explore new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
