Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama in Kwahu during the Easter festivities.

The meeting, which took place on Holy Saturday, highlights a moment of cordial engagement between the two political figures, both of whom were in Kwahu to mark the Easter celebrations—an annual tradition that draws thousands of revelers to the area.
In a post shared on Facebook, Akufo-Addo noted that his visit to Kwahu during Easter has been a consistent personal tradition spanning nearly two decades. He revealed that while in the area, he took the opportunity to call on President Mahama, who was also spending the holiday period there.
“On the Holy Saturday of Easter, whilst in Kwahu where for almost two decades I have consecutively visited during the sacred period of Easter, I called on the President of the Republic, H. E. John Dramani Mahama who is also in Kwahu,” the former president wrote.
The brief but symbolic interaction has drawn public attention, with many observers interpreting it as a demonstration of mutual respect and national unity beyond political differences.
Kwahu remains a central hub for Easter celebrations in Ghana, known for its vibrant festivities, paragliding events, and influx of visitors from across the country and beyond. The presence of both current and former leaders during the period further underscores the significance of the occasion.
While details of their discussions were not disclosed, the visit reflects a continued culture of statesmanship and engagement among Ghana’s political leadership.
