The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has raised serious concerns over financial discrepancies in the accounts of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry after auditors rejected GH₵91.8 million in reported arrears due to insufficient evidence.

The issue came to light on Monday, March 30, 2026, when officials from the ministry appeared before the committee to respond to audit queries regarding their financial records.
According to the audit findings, the ministry declared a total of GH₵116.9 million as arrears and payable commitments. However, after examining the documents submitted, auditors were only able to verify approximately GH₵25 million. This left a substantial balance of GH₵91.8 million unaccounted for, prompting auditors to reject the amount on grounds of inadequate supporting documentation.
Members of the committee, tasked with ensuring the prudent use of public funds, pressed ministry officials for answers, questioning the accuracy and reliability of the figures presented.
Responding to the concerns, former Chief Director of the ministry, Patrick Nimoh, disputed the audit conclusions. He maintained that the ministry had provided all the necessary documents during the audit process and insisted that the reported figures were duly supported.
