The Binajub clan has issued a public appeal for justice following the brutal killing of two of its members, Uninkpel Balatob Gabuja and Tananje Tayon, on 1st February 2026 in Abunyanya, located in the Nkwanta North District.

According to Foster Kwasi Danna, spokesperson for the Binajub clan, the attack occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. when members of the Kpatatiib clan, along with allied clans, assaulted and murdered the two men in their respective homes. The violence reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a family member’s attempt to drill a borehole on Binajub clan land.
“The disagreement on January 31, 2026, escalated into an altercation, prompting police and military intervention to maintain peace and order, for which we are thankful,” Danna said. However, he added that “hours after these security services’ departure, the posturing of Kpatatiib clan members signaled an imminent threat that night. Our calls to the police and military to return and provide security were responded to too late.”
The aftermath of the attack saw six homes and two motorbikes burned, retail shops destroyed, and the tragic loss of two innocent lives. The Binajub clan’s Council of Elders and youth members expressed their outrage and grief over the killings.
Despite nearly two months having passed, Danna noted that no arrests have been made. The clan has petitioned the Oti Regional Police Command and is calling for the immediate apprehension of the perpetrators.
“We are confident that the laws of Ghana are impartial and applicable to all, and we urgently appeal to the Interior Minister and the Inspector-General of Police to intervene through swift investigations and prosecution to ensure justice is served,” Danna said.
