A member of the National Education Reform Committee, Dr. Samuel Awuku, has revealed that since the committee’s inauguration by President John Mahama, it has received 1,501 suggestions from Ghanaians both domestically and abroad.
Speaking to JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba just before the committee’s first public hearing in Ho on Tuesday, February 18, Dr. Awuku stated that these suggestions offer valuable insights into how to reset Ghana’s educational system.
“So far, we have received exactly 1,501 responses from both across the country and the diaspora,” he said.
He highlighted key issues raised in the responses, including a review of the Free Senior High School program, the school feeding program, school governing boards, leadership in schools, and calls for improved quality of education.
The public hearing forum will take place between February 18 and 19, with similar sessions planned for the Western Region after Ho.
President John Mahama established the eight-member committee to conduct a national education reform initiative aimed at gathering ideas for reshaping the country’s educational system, particularly at the basic and secondary levels.
