President John Dramani Mahama has reshuffled his government, announcing changes to several ministerial portfolios as part of efforts to realign his administration.
Among the key changes is the nomination of the Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, as the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.
The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has also been nominated as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The reshuffle also affects the Ministries of Defence and Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources has been reassigned to the Ministry of Defence, while the Minister for Local Government has been nominated to take over as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The changes were announced in a statement signed by the Minister of State in charge of Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
According to the statement, President Mahama acted in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution by submitting the names of the nominees to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval.
The statement noted that the new appointments are subject to parliamentary approval.
The latest changes come as President Mahama continues to reorganise his administration and align ministerial responsibilities with the priorities of his government.
The affected ministers are expected to assume their new responsibilities following the completion of the parliamentary approval process.
