The Ghana Police Service has arrested the General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, Prophet William Gyimah, over alleged death threats made against the Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama.

The 49-year-old pastor was picked up on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, during an intelligence-driven operation in Kasoa in the Central Region. Authorities say the arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on TikTok and other social media platforms in which the suspect is alleged to have issued the threats.
According to police sources, the video was detected through routine online surveillance conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET). The unit, tasked with monitoring digital spaces for potential security risks, acted swiftly after flagging the content.
Following his arrest, Prophet Gyimah has been transferred to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where further inquiries are underway.
Police have not yet disclosed additional details about the investigation but reiterated their commitment to addressing threats to public safety and maintaining national security, particularly in the digital space.
