A Special Committee established by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has upheld 1,201 public sector appointments made during the transition period following the December 7, 2024, general elections, while revoking 541 others.

The review was initiated after concerns that the outgoing administration of Nana Akufo-Addo may have bypassed established civil service recruitment procedures. In total, 2,080 appointments were scrutinized by the committee as part of efforts to ensure compliance with due process and public service regulations.
According to the findings, 1,201 appointments were confirmed to have followed the appropriate recruitment standards and were therefore maintained. However, 541 appointments were revoked after the committee determined that they did not meet the required procedural standards.
Notably, the committee also upheld 338 appointments involving persons with disabilities. The panel found that these recruitments complied fully with due process requirements, underscoring what officials described as a commitment to inclusivity and fairness in public sector employment.
Addressing the outcome of the review, Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, emphasized that the exercise was not politically motivated. He stated that the review was aimed at strengthening accountability, transparency, and adherence to established recruitment procedures within the public service.
He added that the government remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of public sector employment while ensuring that all appointments are made in accordance with the law.
The Special Committee’s report is expected to guide future recruitment practices and reinforce public confidence in the management of state institutions.
