Ghanaian gospel star Diana Hamilton has opened up about her early nursing career, revealing how her experiences in hospitals like Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital shaped her resilience and compassion.

Speaking on JoyNews Personality Profile, Hamilton recalled the challenges of wound dressing and the more graphic realities of hospital work, which initially tested her commitment. “We didn’t like all the things that made good nurses… You would see the biggest size and the smallest size all the time. It made me wonder whether I had chosen the right job,” she laughed.
Despite the initial discomfort, Hamilton said that nursing became a source of personal growth, and her dual identity as a nurse and gospel singer informs much of her songwriting. Her 2024 and 2025 releases, celebrated for themes of healing and divine intervention, draw from the compassion she cultivated in the wards.
As she gears up for her 2026 ‘Awake Experience’ concerts in Accra and Kumasi, Hamilton continues to merge the lessons of physical care with the spiritual nourishment of her music.
