The Ghana Police Service has issued a strong warning to firearm holders following the conviction of Abubakar Sadick, also known as Cyborg, for discharging a gun at the AfroFuture concert in Accra.

Addressing journalists on December 31, CID Director-General COP Lydia Yaako Donkor emphasized that the use of firearms in public spaces, even by licensed holders, is a serious violation of the law.
She stressed that firearm licences do not grant individuals the freedom to use weapons at public events and gatherings, noting that such actions pose grave risks to public safety.
COP Donkor cited Sadick’s conviction and GH¢24,000 fine, as well as the withdrawal of his firearm licence, as a clear example of the consequences offenders will face.
The police administration, she said, remains committed to enforcing the law strictly and ensuring the safety of the public, warning that similar acts will attract swift arrest and severe sanctions.
