President John Dramani Mahama has held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing as part of his visit to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.
The meeting, which coincided with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ghana and China, focused on strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two nations.
President Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Ghana, saying both countries should work together to advance mutual interests and foster development.
According to him, China is ready to work with Ghana to promote the upgrading of cooperation in various fields and make greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

He emphasized the need to implement the outcomes of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and explore new avenues of collaboration in mining, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and fisheries.
Xi added that China would support Ghana in transforming its resource wealth into sustainable development and expressed hope that Ghana would soon benefit from China’s zero-tariff policy for African countries.
President Mahama, on his part, congratulated China on successfully hosting the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, describing the event as “of great significance” and a demonstration of China’s leadership in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment globally.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s adherence to the One-China policy and expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in key sectors.
He further stressed Ghana’s commitment to multilateralism and global governance reforms, pledging support for initiatives that promote fairness and justice in international relations.
The meeting reinforced the long-standing partnership between Ghana and China, with both leaders expressing confidence in a more dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship in the years ahead.
