The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has hosted the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Laura Ranalli, and her delegation at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho to discuss potential areas of collaboration aimed at boosting the region’s development.
The visit focused on exploring partnerships in agriculture, digital skills development, and tourism—sectors Mr. Gunu described as vital to unlocking the Volta Region’s economic potential.
During the meeting, the Regional Minister highlighted the region’s strategic priorities and ongoing development plans aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for inclusive and sustainable growth. He expressed the region’s readiness to welcome investors and partners who would contribute to economic expansion, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange.
“We are open to partnerships that will not only drive economic growth but also strengthen sister-city relationships, promote social integration, and deepen cultural exchanges between the Volta Region and Italy,” Mr. Gunu said.
Ambassador Ranalli and her delegation, for their part, shared Italy’s expertise in supporting youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development. Discussions also touched on future initiatives, including the 24-hour economy concept and its potential to stimulate business activity and employment in the region.
Mr. Gunu described the engagement as “an important step in building international cooperation for the benefit of the people of the Volta Region,” expressing optimism that the partnership would create new opportunities for local communities and young people.
The visit underscores the growing interest of international partners in contributing to the Volta Region’s development agenda.
