A 31-year-old businesswoman, Francisca Elikem Fudji, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court over allegations that she assaulted a police officer and took properties belonging to her former employer.
Fudji, who has denied the charges, is alleged to have incited some persons, who are currently at large, to molest, assault and obstruct a police officer from performing his lawful duty.
Chief Inspector Clemence Takyi, who is prosecuting, told the court that the complainant, Jerry Owusu-Brempong, a businessman based in Accra, employed Fudji in June 2024 to manage his shop, bar and salon at Lapaz.
According to the prosecution, the three businesses had been operating since 2020 and were previously managed by Owusu-Brempong.
The court heard that Owusu-Brempong paid Fudji GH¢1,300 monthly and instructed her to pay the other workers and deposit the remaining proceeds into his account while he travelled outside the jurisdiction.
The prosecution said Owusu-Brempong returned to Ghana in June 2026 and discovered that Fudji had allegedly failed to render accounts and had not made the required payments into his accounts.
It further told the court that the tenancy agreements for the three businesses expired in December 2025, after which Owusu-Brempong decided not to renew them and planned to return the premises to the landlord.
However, when he allegedly attempted to remove his belongings from the shops, Fudji is said to have prevented him and threatened that she would use “her boys” to kidnap him if he attempted to take his property.
The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Accra Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for assistance in retrieving his belongings.
As part of investigations, police personnel were assigned to supervise an inventory of Owusu-Brempong’s items at the shops on August 12, 2026.
The prosecution said that on August 19, 2026, while police officers were supervising the removal of the complainant’s belongings, Fudji allegedly called some unknown persons to the scene.
Those persons allegedly prevented the police from performing their lawful duties and subsequently attacked and assaulted one of the officers.
The prosecution further alleged that Fudji and the unidentified persons demanded GH¢5,000 from Owusu-Brempong before seizing some of his property as the police retreated.
Among the items allegedly taken were a 75-inch Samsung television, a double-door refrigerator, a counter table, a three-in-one sofa chair, two shelves, 29 chairs, nine bar tables and eight plastic chairs.
The prosecution said Fudji was subsequently invited to the police station on August 24, 2026, where she allegedly claimed ownership of the items and stated that she had moved them to an unknown location.
Fudji has denied the allegations against her.
The court subsequently admitted her to bail in the sum of GH¢200,000 with three sureties, who must be gainfully employed.
The case is expected to continue as the prosecution pursues the allegations against the accused.
