The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the Gbeho family, will hold a state funeral in honour of the late Ambassador James Victor Gbeho on Friday, July 31, 2026.
The funeral ceremony will take place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra to recognise his distinguished service to Ghana and the international community.
A statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, described Ambassador Gbeho as one of Ghana’s most accomplished statesmen and diplomats.
Ambassador Gbeho had a distinguished career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he rose through the ranks to serve as Chief Director, Deputy Minister and later Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Beyond his national service, he served as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Somalia and later became President of the ECOWAS Commission.
The government extended its condolences to the family of the late diplomat and acknowledged his contributions to Ghana’s diplomatic standing on the global stage.
