President John Dramani Mahama joined congregants at the Ringway Gospel Centre, Assemblies of God, in Accra to celebrate Father’s Day, using the occasion to call on men to play a more active role in shaping the next generation.

The President, accompanied by his wife, Lordina Mahama, participated in the church service where the couple were seen joyfully dancing during a lively praise session. Dressed in white, President Mahama and the First Lady moved from their seats to the front of the church, joining other worshippers in an atmosphere of celebration and gratitude.
The service formed part of nationwide Father’s Day observances, with many families attending church and honouring fathers and father figures for their contributions to family and society.
In a separate Facebook post to mark the day, President Mahama paid tribute to fathers across Ghana and beyond, acknowledging their critical role in raising responsible citizens and future leaders.
“Happy Father’s Day to all men. Let’s continue to build giants!” he wrote.
Though brief, the message underscored the importance of fatherhood in national development. The President urged men to remain committed to nurturing and guiding their children, stressing that strong family values are key to building a better and more prosperous society.
Father’s Day is celebrated annually in many parts of the world to recognise the sacrifices, dedication and influence of fathers and father figures. In Ghana, the occasion was marked with church services, family gatherings and social media tributes.
President Mahama’s participation in the church service and his message to fathers added to the national reflection on the importance of parenting, leadership and the role of men in shaping the country’s future.
