The Ghana Police Service has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta in the Oti Region following a series of violent attacks that have left three people dead and several others injured.

In a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, the Police said the deployment forms part of intensified efforts to restore calm and maintain law and order in the municipality.
According to the statement, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, directed the dispatch of the special team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce existing security arrangements in the area.
The move comes amid heightened tensions in parts of Nkwanta following the recent attacks, which have raised concerns among residents and local authorities.
Police say investigations into the incidents are ongoing, with security agencies working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
Residents have been assured of the continued presence of security personnel as authorities work to stabilize the situation. The Police have also urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers.
They further called on residents to volunteer credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and help bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace within the municipality,” the statement said.
