Some workers of Zoomlion in the Bantama Municipality of the Ashanti Region have petitioned the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, over the non-payment of their salaries for the past one and a half years.

According to the aggrieved workers, the prolonged delay in salary payments has caused severe financial hardship, affecting their ability to cater for themselves and their families. They claim that despite continuing to render sanitation services, they have not received any remuneration for 18 months.
The workers further alleged that the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has engaged other individuals to take over their roles, even though their outstanding salaries remain unpaid. They describe the situation as unfair and demoralizing, insisting that it has undermined their livelihoods and dignity.
Speaking in an interview with OTEC News on Monday, June 15, 2026, a representative of the workers, Agya Sei, said initial efforts to resolve the issue with Zoomlion management yielded no results. According to him, the company later directed them to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council to formally present their grievances to the Regional Minister.
“We have worked tirelessly, yet we have nothing to show for it. Our families are suffering, and we are struggling to survive,” he lamented.
The workers are now appealing directly to the Regional Minister to intervene and ensure that their outstanding salaries are paid without further delay. They expressed hope that swift action from the authorities will bring relief and restore fairness to their situation.
Efforts to reach Zoomlion management for a response were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
