The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has pledged financial support for traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at the Nima Market in Accra.

The MP, who visited the scene after the incident, assured affected traders of his personal support to help them recover from the destruction caused by the fire. He announced a donation of GH¢5,000 each to victims to assist them in restarting their businesses.
He described the incident as a major setback for the trading community, noting that municipal authorities and the National Disaster Management Organisation had already been on the ground to offer initial support.
Baba Jamal expressed sympathy to the affected traders and called for broader national intervention to help them recover from the losses.
He also appealed to government to consider constructing an ultra-modern market facility in the constituency, arguing that such infrastructure would improve trading conditions and help reduce the risk of future fire outbreaks.
According to him, the current situation highlights the urgent need for safer and more organised market structures to protect livelihoods and prevent similar disasters.
The MP further urged national leadership and relevant agencies to support affected traders in these difficult times, adding that immediate relief and long-term planning were both necessary to restore normalcy at the market.
