The Private Newspaper and Online Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) goes to the polls today to elect new national executives to steer the affairs of the Association.
Among the leading contenders for the presidency is David Tamakloe, who is widely seen as the frontrunner in the race to lead the umbrella body of private newspaper publishers. He is in the race with Awudu Mahama
His campaign has centred on strengthening press freedom, improving welfare for members, and repositioning PRINPAG as a strong voice in Ghana’s media landscape.
The elections are expected to attract keen interest from industry stakeholders, given the crucial role of private newspapers in Ghana’s democratic and media ecosystem.
Outgoing executives have urged members to ensure a peaceful and transparent process, emphasising that unity within the Association is essential to tackling the challenges confronting private publishers.
Results of the polls are expected later today. Aside from the key competition for the presidency, Mr Michael Antwi-Agyei and Roger Agana are vying for the position of Vice President. Prince Kawuunda Mayanbe. William Sarpong, among others, are vying for the position of Organising Secretary, with Naana Alerh Kubi and others vying for Treasurer and Financial Secretary, and Mr Emmanuel Opare Djan is going for the position of Public Affairs and External Relations
