Vice President Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has received medical treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) following a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025.
A statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, confirmed that the Vice President sought medical attention on Saturday after experiencing health complications.
“Based on expert medical opinion, she will be seeking further care abroad,” the statement noted, without disclosing details of her condition or the specific country for treatment.
The government extended its well wishes for her recovery, while Ghanaians across the political divide have expressed support for the Vice President during this period.
Opoku-Agyemang, Ghana’s first female Vice President, has played a key role in governance, championing education and social policies. Her health situation is expected to be closely monitored as she prepares for treatment outside the country.
